Happy Holidays
On behalf of the CIS PTO, we hope you have a wonderful and safe Holiday Season! We will see you next year! School resumes on January 4, 2016. Next PTO meeting will take place the same week, Thursday, January 7th @ 7pm. Until then...Happy Holidays!

POTH
POTH is an annual fundraiser and tradition at Columbia. It is a fun, friendly lip syncing competition that involves groups of three or more 5th and 6th grade students who perform on the Kings High School Stage in February! Click on the links below to view all POTH related information.  

Winter Student Clubs
The Student Clubs for the winter session will take place on Tuesdays 3:30-4:30pm from January 19th-February 23rd. Click the registration form below for more details. Return completed form to CIS office by January 8th to reserve your child's spot.

KingsUKnights
Thank you to the families who have graciously donated items to help with the KingsUKnights program. We truly have a KINGSSTRONG community! If you have any additional questions or comments about this program, contact KingsUKnights at kingsuknights@gmail.com

Staff Appreciation
The Staff Appreciation Committee has collected a binder full of helpful gift giving ideas for the teachers. It includes a copy of the "teachers favorites" list that they have kindly filled out. The binder will be placed in the front office for your review. 

Spiritwear
The CIS Spiritwear orders have arrived and will be distributed by Friday, December 18th. If you have ordered items for a Holiday gift, they will be held at the CIS front office for your pickup.

Please consider giving a gift to the community this Holiday Season. A new program is taking place this year to fulfill the needs of our Kings families for the Holidays.  KingsUKnights will find members of the community to match the needs of any family that is referred by a counselor. Meeting
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! Reminder: there will not be a PTO meeting for the month of December. Mark your calendars for January 7th @ 7pm in the Art Room for our next meeting. 


Parents Night Out Fundraiser
Lifetime Fitness, Parents Night Out is tomorrow, Friday, December 4th from 6-9pm. This fun-filled night will consist of rock climbing, gym games, crafts and more. Pizza from the Life Cafe' will be provided. Registration Deadline was Tuesday, December 1st. If you were not able to register/attend at this time, watch for additional Parents Night Out events in the New Year!

Staff Appreciation Thanksgiving
It is time for the 12th annual  CIS PTO Staff Appreciation Committee's Thanksgiving Bread distribution. Every year, it is tradition to present each staff member with a loaf of homemade bread to share with their families over Thanksgiving break, as a "thank you" for their continued dedication to our kids. We are in need of 85 loaves of homemade bread. Click on the signup link below to help continue this tradition.

Parents Night Out Fundraiser
Enjoy a night out while the kids have fun! Lifetime Fitness is offering a Parents Night Out on Friday, December 4th from 6-9pm. This fun-filled night will consist of rock climbing, gym games, crafts and more. Pizza from the Life Cafe' will be provided. The cost is $20 1st child, $15 each additional family member. Lifetime will donate $5 back to CIS for every child that registers and attends! Print and return the registration form below to CIS with cash or check payable to CIS PTO. Registration Deadline: Tuesday, December 1st.


Candy Drive 
Thank you to the students and staff at CIS for your generous donations to the 5th Annual JF Burns Candy Drive for the Troops.  CIS students donated 937 pounds of candy which was taken to JF Burns and added to the 1643 pounds that were dropped off there.  This year's candy drive was an incredible success due in large part to the CIS students and the staff.  Our goal was 1000 pounds this and we really crushed our goal. We collected at total of 2583 pounds of candy, all of which will go to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center to go into care packages for local service men and women deployed around the world.  The Kings community is truly amazing.  The following classes won a Papa John's pizza party for collecting the most candy:
5th Grade - Mrs. Peters class with 81 pounds
6th Grade - Mr. Klies' class with 85 pounds

CIS Candy Drive
Papa John's has donated a pizza party to the 5th and 6th grade class that donates the most candy for the JF Burns 5th Annual Candy Drive for the Troops. Students can bring their donations to their homeroom.  Donations will be weighed and totaled and the winners will be announced the week of November 16th.  All candy will be accepted (including chocolate) with the exception of anything shaped like body parts or weapons. If possible, please send the candy in ziplock baggies.  All candy will go to The Yellow Ribbon Support Center in Batavia, Ohio.  The Yellow Ribbon Center sends countless care packages to local military service members each year.  If you have any questions, please contact Hope Cantrall  at hopecantrall@gmail.com

A Big Win for Kings
Congratulations to Peggy Phillips and Kerry McKiernan for their big win for the two open seats on the Kings BOE! Thanks to everyone who voted on Tuesday in order to make this happen! We are KINGS STRONG!

Our guest speaker will be Missy Kowitz to talk about a new community project called "KingsUKnights". It is a program that involves matching the needs of Kings families with Kings community resources. We'd love to see you there! 

Directly following the PTO meeting, Erin Deutsch and the Spooktacular committee will be having an additional Spooktacular meeting. Feel free to stick around for that, too!

PTO Communication
The PTO Points newsletter will be sent out every Thursday via the school messenger. It will be included in the CIS newsletter with a direct link. Another good source of communication is the Kings Parents - Class of 2022 & 2023 Facebook pages. These are solely parent run pages, and are not produced by PTO or CIS. They were formed by parents to help children and parents get to know each other and share information. To join these pages, click on the link below to submit your email and an administrator of that page will need to add you as a member.




PTO Meeting
Our first PTO meeting of the year took place two weeks ago. It was a successful meeting with a great turnout. Feel free to read the PTO Meeting Minutes below if you were not able to attend. Our next meeting will be Thursday, October 8th at 7pm in the Art Room.

Staff Appreciation

The Staff Appreciation committee will be providing dinner for the teachers during the upcoming conference evenings. The first of the three conferences will be held tonight, September 17th. We are still in need of help for set up. Please see the SignUp Genius link below. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!


Spooktacular

The annual Spooktacular fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th from 6-9pm. Erin Deutsch and the Spooktacular Committee have been working throughout the summer to bring a new and refreshed look to the carnival. See the "Save The Date Flyer" for more info! DancifyYourLife is offering a variety of dance classes to all Kings students. All classes are held in the Multipurpose Room at JF Burns Elementary. See flyer for more information. PTO Meeting
