10.27.16 PTO Points
Spooktacular - Thank you to everyone that helped make our 2016 Spooktacular a success. It is one of our largest fundraisers and we made close to $7k to help fund our great after school programs as well as provide our teachers and staff with items they need to continue to make our school a huge success! Big thanks to Mary Butler for spearheading the event and working tirelessly to pull off the event and make it a success.
Candy for the Troops: We will begin to accept donations
from Tuesday, November 1 through Friday, November 11. Candy should be sent in with your student
(preferably in a ziplock baggie) or may be dropped off at the office with the
name of your child's teacher on it. We ask that no candy shaped like body parts
be included in the candy that your student brings in. All candy collected will
go to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center and will be added to the tally at JF
Burns for the 6th Annual Candy Drive for the Troops. The goal this year is beat
the 2583 pounds of candy that was collected last year. Last year, CIS students donated 637 pounds
of candy!! The 5th & 6th grade class that donate the most candy will win a
pizza party from Papa John's! Candy can also be dropped off at Mac's Pizza in Landen. Questions
should be directed to Hope Cantrall at hopecantrall@gmail.com.
CIS Marco's Pizza Night - the next monthly Marco's Pizza Night will be on Tuesday, November 1st. Remember that the winning classroom will get a pizza party for the highest
sales.
Last parent-teacher conference dinner, Thursday 11/3. Please use the sign up genius link listed below to help feed our teachers on the last 2016 parent teacher conference night dinner.
Teacher In-Service Day Tuesday, November 8th - Election Day - No School! We also have the Keep Kings Strong school levy on the ballot so please vote to keep Kings Strong! Everyone may have received a flyer from COAST and opposition to the levy. A FAQ on the levy is attached in response to the COAST flyer.
3V3 Basketball Tourney
CIS PTO will be holding a 3 on 3 Basketball tourney on Sunday, November 13 at the CIS gymnasium. More information soon to follow on how to sign up via your Friday folders and on the CIS PTO Blogspot.
POTH Parent Meeting - For those students that are interested in trying out for Putting On The Hits in January, there will be an informational parent meeting at CIS on Thursday, November 17th at 7pm in the CIS Cafeteria.
CIS Ski Club - Ski Club has officially opened the signups for ski club. We have a couple weeks less to get everyone signed up this year so I would not put it off. Nov 11 is the last day. If your child is riding the bus signup immediately because there is limited seating and once it's gone, it's gone. PLEASE download the instruction page and medical release/ kings liability form from our website at the time you sign up, complete the medical form and mail it to the coordinator for your club. If you have a student in each club you have to mail a form to each coordinator and you have to sign them up for the correct club. Technically we only need the forms for bus riders but having them for non-bus riders allows us to help in the event they have any issues at PN.
Club starts week of January 9 and ends weeks of January 30th
If school is cancelled or there is a delay, we will not have Ski Club. We will do our best to make up the session in February.
Your child can bring his/her own equipment or rent at PN.
Parents and siblings may also take advantage of the special club pricing.
Bus will depart CIS immediately after school on Wed and be home usually around 845.
TradeGlobal Packaging Volunteers
Volunteer Opprotunity: CIS has been presented with a new and better way to fundraise! No selling, baking, etc involved. Just your time:) TradeGlobal is a West Chester packaging company for companies like Avon, Tory Burch, and Puma. They look for volunteers with non-profits/schools to pack boxes for them during the holiday season. As a volunteer, you would be packing their orders for shipment. The shift is 7:45am-4pm. TradeGlobal will make a donation between $100-$160 for each person for each shift we can cover. The maximum amount we can make on this fundraiser is in excess of $25,000. Part of the funds we would raise ($5,500) will be used to finance a glass blowing artist that will spend 2 weeks at CIS teaching the kids the art of glass blowing and giving them the opportunity to contribute to a school project that will be displayed in the front window of the school for many years to come. Sign up for as many spots as you can and sign up your friends, relatives and neighbors too:) This a great and easy way to help raise funds to be used in our own school! The sign-up genius for volunteering is here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f054ba9ac2da5ff2-tradeglobal
